About This Marching Band Show...

HOUDINI!.......A master of mystery and illusion. This marching band show strives to capture the essence of the man that astonished audiences around the world. The preshow begins as the Master of Ceremonies announces one of the greatest illusionists of all time. The crowd begins to cheer with excitement as Houdini finally appears to the music of Lady Gaga’s Applause. As the first movement begins, we hear the melodic lines of Eric Whitacre’s Equus. With the use of flourishing woodwind lines and aggressive brass features, it captures the excitement of Houdini’s act as he begins to lock himself in chains. Movement two features the beautiful lines of Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. The interplay between the trumpet and french horn solos create a perfect vehicle to present the visual imagery of a lock and key. The brass then build and carry the ensemble into a lush impact which will certainly elicit a response from your audience. At the conclusion of the ballad, the percussion slowly build in for a short interlude that will allow them to demonstrate their skills. As final movement begins, Houdini finally enters the box. There is a hush over the crowd as the winds build to a triumphant push featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird. The tempo increases and a guitar solo takes over to create tension as everyone waits to see if he will escape. Houdini then comes from behind the curtain and we hear Lady Gaga’s Applause one more time as he receives a standing ovation, which your ensemble will definitely receive in performing this production!

A NOTE ABOUT MAINSTAGE

While the show was designed to utilize MainStage, it is not required. You can use the included wav samples in your favorite sampler.  To achieve the best results possible, it is recommended to use a MacBook Pro with at least 8GB of ram.
