About This Marching Band Show...

This show will transports your audience into a chess match, where two queens face off. Preshow and the opening statement sets the stage with the ticking on the chess clock and the two queens assembling her armies with Lorde’s version of Everybody Wants to Rule the World. The opener begins with Gustav Holts’ Mars the Bringer of War as the first move of the chess match begins. Intellectually pairing chess pieces on the board with iconic musical lines we feature

Pawn - Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copeland

Bishop - Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow

Knight - William Tell Overture by Rossini & Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev

Queen - God Save the Queen

The ballad switches gears to represent the queens themselves and finding a common ground in this world of chess. The queen is the only female piece on the board yet she is the the most powerful piece in the game of chess. Using  two talented soloists and an amazing guitar we encapsulate this with a version of James Brown’s It's A Man’s World which will bring the audience to their feet. Moving to the final battle on the chess board the percussion feature uses music from Clint Mansell’s Requiem For a Dream, and the chart topping K-Pop group BlackPink’s Pretty Savage. The closer starts out with a horn solo featuring the recognizable and loved We Are the Champions by the band Queen into a rousing hit. As the show amps up to the final moments of Checkmate, we bring back Mars and Everybody Wants to rule the world.  Who will be the winner of the game? With this show, your students, staff and audience will be!!
