About This Marching Band Show...
The preshow sets the stage by combining Max Richter's Nature of Daylight and Joseph William Morgan's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. As the wind begins to howl and the lightning strikes, the Dies Irae theme can be heard in the opening statement showing there is destruction on its way. Paul Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King takes center stage in movement one as Dorothy enters the colorful world of OZ and begins her journey. As they travel along the yellow brick road and arrive at the Emerald City, Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony evokes the spectacle of their new world. The third movement features an EDM style percussion feature using themes from Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain as the witch tries to capture Dorothy and her group of friends. The final movement feature’s a blending of Skylar Grey’s Coming Home and Somewhere Over the Rainbow as Dorothy leaves OZ and returns home. This fantastic ride will excite your audience and students as they realize there really is no place like HOME!
