About This Marching Band Show...

Using the imagery of a doorway, and the color concept of dark to light, this marching band show begins with sounds of a clock increasing in intensity as the preparation for a journey quickly approaches. Using RAIGN’s version of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, the preshow continues to build to the opening statement of Chopin’s Funeral March. Movement I concentrates on the dark side of the door using the Dies Irae theme featuring both brass and woodwind features which will impress judges and crowd’s alike. The final push in Movement I uses Bach’s Tocatta and Fugue in d minor to create a fast and exciting end to the opener. As we continue to move towards the gateway, an ethereal baritone duet featuring Remo Giazotto’s Adagio in g minor takes over. A feeling of reverence with a triumphant ending will show off your marching ensemble’s musical abilities. As the music darkens we move to the ultimate battle between light and dark. Featuring the percussion, this movement allows your percussion to demonstrate their abilities using a combination of Chopin’s Funeral March and the Dies Irae theme. The final movement takes your audience through the doorway into the light. Beginning with a flute solo of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door by Bob Dylan, this movement creates the feeling of resolution. The final build and impact uses Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 (Resurrection Symphony) to create a glorious and jubilant end to the journey. As the final door, the haunting yet beautiful melodies of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door and the Doxology are blended together for a breathtaking down ending. We are sure the judges and audience will connect with this powerful marching band show!
