About This Marching Band Show...
This marching band show will take your audience into ancient times and will capture one of Homer's most iconic villains; The Sirens. The Preshow sets the stage as the sounds of a calm ocean and the deadly, but beautiful haunting voices fill the sea. The opening movement whisks your audience away as the sailors begin their journey into the unknown. As they depart, John Mackey's Kingfisher's Catch Fire picks up the feeling of a ship moving through the ocean waters as they start their new adventure. As the sailors spot the sirens, Jesse Cook's I Put a Spell on You embodies the call of the Sirens. Featuring a Solo Voice and a Clarinet, this moment will enchant both the sailors and audience alike. The too late realization of being in the fatal clutches of these femme fatales is portrayed through the percussion feature, using Mozart's Dies Irae from his Requiem Mass. As the panic and destruction on the ship begins, the Dies Irae motif begins to build for an impactful and emotional closing. The down ending bookends the show with the eerie voices of the sirens looking for their next victims.
