About This Marching Band Show...

Pain, Struggle, Redemption....This marching band show is inspired by the internal battle dancers have throughout their performative journey. Using a wide variety of music that moves between dark and light moods, this intriguing show will take your audience on a ride of emotions. The preshow sets the stage as the ballerina musique box starts up. It then moves to the iconic theme from Bjork’s Dancer in the Dark, culminating in a powerful and impactful statement of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. As the show moves into the first movement, the melodic lines from Medea’s Dance of Vengeance by Samuel Barber and Dies Irae are woven together to create a sense of pain and struggle. Using Respighi’s Church Windows, the movement ends with undulating chromatic scales to create a sense of the tension and madness within. The second movement changes pace with a beautiful solo from The Swan by Camielle Saint-Saëns. The woodwinds then pick up the melody and create a lush and beautiful moment before the brass take over and the Dancer in the Dark theme reemerges ending with a glorious and powerful conclusion. Moving to the percussion feature, it aims to explore the battles we all have within ourselves using Ozzy Osborne’s Crazy Train. This driving number is a great vehicle to showcase your percussion section and give your winds an opportunity to demonstrate their movement skills. As the final movement begins, the Swan Lake theme resurfaces and builds into a strong and triumphant push all the way to the end of the show. As all performers know, the journey can be rocky but the final performance is always worth it. We’re sure this show will be enjoyed by your performers and audiences alike!
