This fun and colorful marching band show will take your audience back to the carefree days of their childhood. Using a playground as the inspiration for this marching band show, it is sure to open up many visual opportunities for your ensemble. The school bell rings, the day has ended, and students get ready to play represented by Alison Cooper's School’s Out in the Opening Statement. The first movement of this show turns out to be the merry-go-round. Mixing iconic children songs with Benjamin Britten’s A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, the melodies are intertwined to create a new and interesting arrangement which will transport your audience back to their childhood. As the opener comes to a close, London Bridge is Falling Down is heard as we transition to the ballad which represents the teetor-totter. The mood shifts with the recognizable lines of Pure Imagination via a beautiful trombone quartet. The woodwinds then take over with a jazzy rendition of Pure Imagination that will impress audiences and judges alike. The music builds into a trumpet solo soaring into an ovation worthy impact filling the crowd with a sense of wonder. As the ballad comes to a close, the faint sound of Row, Row, Row Your Boat leads the audience into the percussion feature. A good time is to be had by all with an upbeat version of Duke Ellington’s It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing because a swing is obviously one of the most iconic pieces of a playground. The closer takes on a modern feel with Son Lux’s Lost it to Trying. The faint sounds of If You’re Happy and You Know It can be heard as the final push represents the full realization of a playground. A final reprise of Pure imagination sets the stage for dramatic and fun ending to the show that will have your audience standing on it's feet. This marching band show is sure to excite not only the audience, but your students as well!
